National Collections of Subtropical crops:
The National Collections of Subtropical Species are maintained in five conservation fields of IOSV in Chania. At least 15 species and more than 140 varieties, adapted to Greek climatic conditions, are included. Over a 30-year period, preservation of genetic resources, Genetic x Environment interaction and breeding studies are conducted in more than 1300 trees, of the following species:

- Macadamia integrifolia Maiden et Betche, Macadamia tetraphyllaA.S. Johnson (macadamia), 3 cultivars NC
- Musa acuminata Colla, Musa x paradisiaca, M. acuminata Colla x M. balbisiana Colla (banana), 2 cultivars NC
- Ceratonia siliqua L. (carob), 8 genotypes NC
- Litchi chinensis (lychee), 1 cultivar
- Psidium guasava L. (guava), 3 cultivars
- Acca sellowiana Berg (feijoa), 8 cultivars, 4 NC
- Averrhoa carambola L. (star fruit), 2 cultivars
- Carya illinoinensis (Wangenh.) K. Koch (pecan), 11 cultivars
