The Plant Pathology Laboratory focuses on plant disease management from pathogens (viruses/viroids, fungi, bacteria) targeting the protection and sustainable preservation of phytogenetic resources. Research areas are:

  • the disease diagnosis, studyand characterization of new emerging pathogens.
  • the optimization/development of new diagnostic tools with the usage of innovative technologies.
  • the study of epidemiology, genetic evolutionary relationships and population structure, and biology of pathogens.
  • the study of plant-pathogen interactions and role determination of plant genes to pathogenesis, for the development of new disease management methods.
  • the microbiome study and characterization of beneficial endophytic microorganisms, determination of interactions with plant pathogens and their involvement to defense mechanisms,as modern control methods with the use of biological factors.
