One of the tree Olive Oil laboratories of the IOSV is located in the Department of Olive and Horticultural Corps in Kalamata.

Scientific research areas:

  • Evaluation of the composition, physicochemical and organoleptic characteristics, as well as antioxidant capacity of Protected Destination of Origin (PDO) ‘Kalamata’ olive oil.
  • Effect of cultivar and olive fruit maturity index on qualityand nutritional value traitsof extra virgin olive oils.
  • Study of the composition, quality and nutritional value of PDO and Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) extra virgin olive oils.
  • Sustainable agricultural practices and their effect on olive oil’s quality traits.
