Research Interests

His main research activity focuses on understanding the mechanisms of resistance of insects and mites to insecticides and acaricides, with the aim of developing optimal tools for the early diagnosis of resistance and its management within the framework of Integrated Pest Management (IPM).

  • Development and application of diagnostic methods and tools (simple diagnostic bioassays, basic molecular diagnostics) for the study and management of resistance in arthropod pests.
  • Monitoring resistance and evaluating the effectiveness of plant protection products against arthropod pests of agricultural importance.
  • Molecular analysis and characterization of resistance mechanisms in arthropods using new technologies (next-generation sequencing) and reverse genetics (Drosophila).
  • Development and application of new molecular diagnostic technology (ddPCR) for the early and reliable monitoring of resistance in phytophagous pests.
  • Study of the effects of plant protection products on beneficial insects and mites.
  • Population genetic analysis and recording of insect vectors of pathogens.
  • Member of a scientific network team for the development, operation, and updating of a database and other IT tools for managing resistance data and improving plant protection systems.
  • Use of data information to improve existing IPM systems.
