Department of Viticulture, Floriculture & Plant Protection
The Department of Viticulture, Vegetable crops, Floriculture and Plant Protection in Heraklion derives from the merging of the Plant Protection Institute and the Institute of Viticulture, Vegetable Crops and Floriculture. Today it is composed by seven laboratories: Viticulture, Genetic - Genomic Resources and Plant Biotechnology, Entomology and Agricultural Zoology, Virology, Vegetable Crops, Mycology and Nematology, with one researcher per laboratory and the essential infrastructure. Glasshouses in the field area surrounding the Institute are used for experimental purposes.
