The headquarter of the Institute of Olive Tree, Subtropical Crops and Viticulture is located at Chania, Crete. Research activities are focused on tree crops like olive, citrus and other subtropical crops, with the Laboratories involved, also undertaking the role of curator for the relevant National Collections of cultivars. For the above mentioned crops, specialized Laboratories are carrying out research in the fields of pest and disease control, mineral nutrition and irrigation. Finally, one of the three accredited Laboratories of the Institute for olive oil analysis is located at Chania, while research activities also include the fields of hydroponics and aromatic plants.
